§ 7-96. Adequate mooring lines required.

  • Vessels of fifty (50) or more feet in length shall be moored by at least four (4) strong lines with each line having no less strength than six thousand five hundred (6,500) pounds breaking strength. One (1) of such four (4) lines shall be a bow line, one (1) shall be a stern line, and two (2) shall be amidship lines. Vessels of between twenty-five (25) and fifty (50) feet in length shall be moored by at least three (3) strong lines with each line having no less strength than six thousand five hundred (6,500) pounds breaking strength. One (1) of such lines shall be a bow line, one (1) shall be a stern line, and one (1) shall be an amidship line. Vessels of less than twenty-five (25) feet in length shall be moored by at least two (2) strong lines, one (1) fore and one (1) aft, with each line having no less strength than three thousand three hundred (3,300) pounds breaking strength.
