§ 20-41. Disabled parking spaces for certain handicapped persons; certain exemptions for handicapped persons.

  • (a)

    No person shall park any vehicle in any designated disabled parking space located on county-owned or leased property or private property within the unincorporated areas of Hernando County unless the vehicle displays a disabled parking permit issued under F.S. §§ 316.1958 or 320.0848 or a license plate issued under §§ 320.084, 320.0842, 320.0843, or 320.0845, and the vehicle is transporting the person to whom the displayed permit is issued. However, any person who is chauffeuring a handicapped person shall be allowed, without need for a parking permit, momentary parking in a designated disabled parking space for the purpose of loading or unloading said handicapped person.

    (b)

    Any vehicle properly displaying a disabled parking permit issued under F.S. §§ 316.1958 or 320.0848 or a license plate issued under §§ 320.084, 320.0842, 320.0843, or 320.0845, and the vehicle is transporting the person to whom the displayed permit is issued, shall not be required to pay for parking in any pay designated parking space as defined in this article and subsection 20-40(a)(13) of this Code shall not be enforced against said vehicle, unless otherwise allowed under F.S. § 316.1964.
